Image Comics have announced a comic series co-written by musician Ziggy Marley.

The Grammy Award-winning son of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley will be working on Marijuanaman alongside writer Joe Casey (Gødland) and artist Jim Mahfood (Mixed Tapes).

Marijuanaman follows the adventures of an alien superhero who comes to Earth to protect the marijuana crops that his people desperately need to survive.

“I have been reading comics since I was a little boy in Jamaica,” said Marley. “I am very excited to be a part of Image Comics, Comic-Con and the comic book community.”

Marley will be signing posters for the series at San Diego’s Comic-Con International on Saturday July 24.

Marijuanaman will debut on April 20, 2011.
